The Brief
Camm Upholstery was engaged by The Big Group, in collaboration with designer Brahman Perera, to deliver a high-end, multi-level upholstery fitout for Lexus at the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The scope included the manufacture of new banquette seating for Levels 2 and 3, as well as the recovery of existing banquettes on Levels 1 and 2 to align with updated design specifications. In addition to the banquettes, the project required the reupholstery of various chairs and stools using a carefully curated palette of fabrics.
Each level featured unique finishes and detailing, making material application a critical part of the process. To ensure alignment across all teams, a full prototype was developed, reviewed, and approved before production commenced.

Our Approach
With only eight weeks to deliver, our team drew on extensive experience in event-based upholstery projects to meet the deadline without compromise.
We worked closely with both the designer and the client to develop a detailed prototype, confirming specifications, finishes, and comfort requirements. Our supplier relationships played a key role in the project’s success—we sourced and approved a range of fabrics and finishes tailored to each level’s design intent, including selections from Warwick, Laine, Casamance, Zepel, and Profile.
Once approved, we executed the manufacture and reupholstery of all pieces with precision and efficiency, maintaining consistency across new and existing items. Despite the fast-paced nature of the event environment, every item was delivered on time, crafted to standard, and ready for installation ahead of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
